Inscription. Indian name adopted for mountain and stream. The railroad tunnel built in 1872–1875 was the longest in Eastern United States.

1. Railroad Tunnel
The railroad tunnel mentioned on the marker is not accessible to the public. The tunnel was 4,893 feet long and at that time was the longest railroad tunnel in the eastern U.S.
