Location. 38° 52.727′ N, 77° 4.063′ W. Marker is in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, in Arlington County. Marker is on McClellan Drive east of Grant Drive, on the left when traveling west. 6. 2009 Asiatic Fleet Veterans Reunion. Marker for USS Houston and HMAS Perth This post is an excellent tribute to recognize the crews through the posting of the marker at Arlington. I was there with Asiatic Fleet / USS Houston veterans the day we placed the flowers shown in the picture. in action against Italian and German forces in the Atlantic and Mediterranean prior to serving with ABDA COM in the Battle of the Java Sea and being sunk along with Houston in the Sunda Strait by the ascendant Imperial Japanese Navy on the night of 28 February/1 March 1942.
