| | | 1. William Penn Marker | | | Inscription. Attended a meeting of the Friends (Quakers) at Thomas Hooker’s December 1682 on this tract called “Brownton” (patented in 1652 for 660 acres). Penn sailed from here across the Bay to the Choptank River to a General Meeting of the Friends. Erected by State Roads Commission. Location. 38° 50.639′ N, 76° 32.618′ W. Marker is in West River, Maryland, in Anne Arundel County. Marker is on Galesville Road 0.8 miles east of Muddy Creek Road (Maryland Route 468). Click for map.
