1. The Grandin Well Marker

Inscription. At oil spring across river at this point J. L. Grandin began second well drilled specifically for oil, August, 1859, after Drake's success. It was dry, showing risks involved in oil drilling.

Erected 1959 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Location. 41° 40.616′ N, 79° 25.013′ W. Marker is near Tidioute, Pennsylvania, in Warren County. Marker is at the intersection of U.S. 62 and Siggins Drive, on the right when traveling south on U.S. 62. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Tidioute PA 16351, United States of America.
