1. Dark Hollow Marker
Inscription. Hollows cut into the face of the mountain are the work of the streams that flow through them. Down Dark Hollow flows Hog Camp Branch which drains Big Meadows Swamp. Along the Dark Hollow Trail you may see how the stream works to cut its valley deeper and gradually wear away the mountain. Six-tenths of a mile down the trail is Dark Hollow Falls, nearer the Skyline Drive and easier to reach than any other waterfall in the Park.

At a total drop of 70 feet, Dark Hollow Falls is the fifth highest falls in Shenandoah National Park.
