Inscription. The first Japanese Cherry Trees, presented to the City of Washington as a gesture of friendship and good will by the City of Tokyo, were planted on this site, March 27, 1912.
 
Erected 1950 by National Capital Sesquicentennial Commission.
 
Location. 38° 53.21′ N, 77° 2.476′ W. Marker is in The Tidal Basin, District of Columbia, in Washington. Marker is on Independence Avenue east of West Basin Drive, SW, on the right when traveling east. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Washington DC 20037, United States of America.
