| | | 1. Old Glassworks Marker | | | Inscription. On this site, the first glass factory west of the Monongahela River was established in 1805 through the stimulating influence of Albert Gallatin, Secretary of the Treasury under Thomas Jefferson. Glass was made here until 1849. Erected 1955 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Location. 39° 48.104′ N, 79° 54.844′ W. Marker is near Greensboro, Pennsylvania, in Greene County. Marker is at the intersection of Stoney Hill Road (Pennsylvania Route 2014) and Hillman Street, on the right when traveling north on Stoney Hill Road. Click for map.
