1. Tidewater Pipe Co. Marker

Inscription. Opposite here was station no.1 of the first pipe line to carry oil across the Alleghenies. Built by an early competitor of Standard Oil, it began May 28, 1879, to pump oil 109 miles to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Erected 1949 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

Location. 41° 52.95′ N, 78° 23.906′ W. Marker is in Coryville, Pennsylvania, in McKean County. Marker is at the intersection of Eldred Road (Pennsylvania Route 46) and Moody Hollow Road on Eldred Road. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Eldred PA 16731, United States of America.
