This memorial is dedicated to those of the Fort Hays State University family who have fought and died in the service of their country, and to our university's continuing pursuit of a humane knowledge that will bring us peace.
October 10, 1998
Fort Hays State University was established June 23, 1902, on the former federal military reservation from which it takes its name. An earlier memorial to the university's World War I veterans has been preserved within the limestone panels of this memorial, which was commissioned as part of the five-year celebration of the university's centennial anniversary. Erected 1998 by Fort Hays State University. Location. 38° 52.361′ N, 99° 20.423′ W. Marker is in Hays, Kansas, in Ellis County. Click for map.
