1. Thomas Clark Rye Marker
Inscription. Born June 2, 1863, in a log cabin, about ½ mile N., he studied law at Charlotte, later began practice at Camden. Attorney General of the 13th Judicial District, 1908-12, he was the last Tennessee governor to be elected by a convention. Inaugurated Jan. 17, 1915, serving two terms, he was later Chancellor of the 8th Division. He died Sept. 12, 1953, and is buried in Paris.
