in 1782 and died at his plantation in St.
Bartholomew's Parish, S.C. in 1823. He served
as acting captain of the frigate "Constitution" in
1804 during the war with Tripoli, and was senior
officer in charge of naval affairs at Charleston
during the War of 1812. Erected 1975 by S.C. Society, National Society U.S. Daughters of 1812. Location. 32° 47.929′ N, 80° 29.748′ W. Marker is in Jacksonboro, South Carolina, in Colleton County.
