In February, 1824, this site was chosen as the permanent seat of justice for Parke County. Eight men christened the town-to-be in honor of the ancient boulders found here. Erected 1963 by Parke Co. Historical Society. Location. 39° 45.745′ N, 87° 13.696′ W. Marker is in Rockville, Indiana, in Parke County. Marker is on West Ohio Street (U.S. 36) west of South Jefferson Street, on the right when traveling east. Click for map. The Marker sits on the left side of sidewalk as you approach the north entrance of the Parke County Court House.
