1. Naming of Rockville (Indiana) Marker

Inscription. In February, 1824, this site was chosen as the permanent seat of justice for Parke County. Eight men christened the town-to-be in honor of the ancient boulders found here.

Erected 1963 by Parke Co. Historical Society.

Location. 39° 45.745′ N, 87° 13.696′ W. Marker is in Rockville, Indiana, in Parke County. Marker is on West Ohio Street (U.S. 36) west of South Jefferson Street, on the right when traveling east.
