| | | 1. Canoncito at Apache Canyon Marker | | | Inscription. Strategically located where the Santa Fe Trail emerges from Glorieta Pass, Canoncito is where the New Mexico Governor Manuel Armijo weakly defended New Mexico against the American Army in 1846. In 1862, Union forces destroyed a Confederate supply train contributing to the Confederate loss at the battle of Glorieta, six miles to the east. Location. 35° 32.9′ N, 105° 49.708′ W. Marker is near Santa Fe, New Mexico, in Santa Fe County. Marker is on Old Las Vegas Highway near Interstate 25, on the left when traveling west. Click for map.
