1. Lee's Retreat Marker
Inscription. Sheridan reached here on April 4, 1865 with cavalry and the Fifth Corps, and entrenched. He was thus squarely across Lee's line of retreat to Danville. On April 5, Grant and Meade arrived from the east with the Second Corps and the Sixth Corps.
 
Erected 1929 by Conservation and Development Commission. (Marker Number M 14.)
 
Location. 37° 17.746′ N, 78° 5.937′ W. Marker is in Jetersville, Virginia, in Amelia County. Marker is at the intersection of Patrick Henry Highway (U.S. 360) and Amelia Springs Road (County Route 642), on the right when traveling west on Patrick Henry Highway. Click for map.
