1. 7th Arkansas, 2d Arkansas Tablet
The 7th Arkansas's commander, Colonel John M. Dean, was killed during the fighting at Shiloh. Colonel Daniel C. Govan commanded the 2nd Arkansas.

These regiments, on left of Shaver's brigade, were engaged here at 7:30 A.M., April 6, 1862.

Location. 35° 7.381′ N, 88° 21.035′ W. Marker is in Shiloh, Tennessee, in Hardin County. Marker is on Reconnoitering Road, on the right when traveling south. Click for map. 3. Ridge Line
Looking past the tablet at the line held by the Arkansas Regiments. Portions of Shaver's Brigade formed a line along this ridge line in the morning fighting on April 6, confronting Federals on a near parallel rise to the north. Here, the battle began in earnest.
