1. Bechtler's Mint Marker
Inscription. Established 1831, four miles N., by Christopher Bechtler. Later stood at this point. Minted more than $2 1/4 million in gold. Closed about 1849.
 
Erected 2002 by North Carolina Office of Archives and History. (Marker Number O-16.)
 
Location. 35° 22.321′ N, 81° 57.461′ W. Marker is in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, in Rutherford County. Marker is at the intersection of Washington Street and 6th Street, on the right when traveling north on Washington Street. Click for map.
