1. Wintermantelís Minerís Hotel Marker
Inscription. A large pentagon-shaped structure was built here in 1849. In 1850 it became the Rogerís Hotel, one of Colomaís first major hotels. Ownership changed hands several times until 1852 when it became known as Wintermantelís Miner's Hotel. A sign on the balcony advertised in three languages:

Pensionate Francaise
Wintermantel moved his Minerís Hotel further south on Main Street in 1861. The fate of the original structure here is unknown.
 
Erected by Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park.
 
Location. 38° 48.006′ N, 120° 53.453′ W. Marker is in Coloma, California, in El Dorado County. Marker can be reached from Main Street (State Highway 49) when traveling south. Click for map. Marker is located within the bounderies of the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. Marker is in this post office area: Coloma CA 95613, United States of America.

There were two streets running from the toll house corner, North Main St., and the Sutters Mill Street. Between the two streets where the Community Hall later stood, was Wintermantel's original hotel. This was one of Coloma's major hotels through the 1850s, and one of the few that can be dated to 1849.
