1. Cecil's Mill Historic District Marker
Inscription. The original water-powered textile mill. "Clifton factory," built in 1812,was rebuilt as a flour mill in 1900 by John Thomas Cecil. Historic district also includes Cecil's Country Store and post office built in 1906.
 
Erected by St. Mary's Historical Society and Maryland Historical Society.
 
Location. 38° 14.431′ N, 76° 30.19′ W. Marker is in Great Mills, Maryland, in St. Mary's County. Marker is on Indian Bridge Road (Maryland Route 471) 0.2 miles north of U.S. 5, on the right when traveling north. Click for map. Marker is located on the Mill side of the road, and to your left as you are crossing the cross walk.
