Named after John D. Vail the
postmaster & toll gate keeper
for the Blooming Grove Turnpike
Company, was formerly known as
Mortonville and Tookers Gate
prior to 1850.

 
Erected by New Windsor Town Historian.
 
Location. 41° 27.334′ N, 74° 3.215′ W. Marker is in Vails Gate, New York, in Orange County. Marker is on Blooming Grove Turnpike (New York State Route 94), on the right when traveling west.
