Inscription. To this church, rent by the witchcraft frenzy, came in 1697 the Reverend Joseph Green, aged twenty-two. He induced the mischief makers to confess, reconciled the factions, established the first public school, and became noted for his skill at hunting game and his generous hospitality.
Erected 1930 by Massachusetts Bay Colony Tercentenary Commission.
