1. Goochland Courthouse Marker
Inscription. Near here the ancient trail used by the Iroquois Indians in their raids crossed James River. This trail later became the main north-south road through Virginia. In 1781, Lord Cornwallis, in his invasion of Virginia, marched by this point and his cavalry, under Simcoe, passed here going to Point of Fork. A cavalry skirmish took place here, March 11, 1865.
 
Erected 1930 by Conservation & Development Commission. (Marker Number SA 10.)
 
Location. 37° 40.935′ N, 77° 53.103′ W. Marker is in Goochland, Virginia, in Goochland County. Marker is on River Road West (Virginia Route 6) 0.1 miles east of Scott Road, on the right when traveling west. Click for map.
