1. Jail - 1848 Marker
Inscription. This building with the West addition served as the Gaston County Jail until 1911 when the County seat was moved to Gastonia. The Sheriff and his family had living quarters on the first floor. The second floor still contains the main cell block.
 
Erected by Historic Preservation Commission Gaston County. N.C.
