1. Hardscrabble Hill Marker
Inscription. An ancient name for this hill on the old road to Frenchtown. It possibly got its name for the difficulty that horses had pulling a wagon to the top of the hill. It was also known as "Grays Hill".
 
Erected 2007 by Raritan Township Local Historic Committee.
 
Location. 40° 31.018′ N, 74° 53.078′ W. Marker is in Raritan Township, New Jersey, in Hunterdon County. Marker is on Hardscrabble Hill Road, on the right when traveling west. Click for map. Marker is in this post office area: Flemington NJ 08822, United States of America.
