1. Benton County Courthouse Marker
Inscription. Benton County formed by General Assembly in 1840. Oxford first county seat; Fowler became second, 1874. Designed in Second Empire Style by Gorden P. Randall and built 1874 by Levi L. Leach. Located at geographical center of county on land donated by Moses Fowler family.
 
Erected 1995 by Indiana Historical Bureau, Benton County Indiana Historical Society, Inc., and Benton County Commissioners. (Marker Number 04.1995.1.)
 
Marker series. This marker is included in the Indiana State Historical Bureau Markers marker series.
 
Location. 40° 37.021′ N, 87° 18.926′ W. Marker is in Fowler, Indiana, in Benton County. Marker is on East 6th Street west of South Grant Avenue, on the right when traveling west. Click for map. Located at the East Entrance of the Courthouse. Easy parking in Courthouse lot. Marker is in this post office area: Fowler IN 47944, United States of America.
