| | | 1. North Farnham Church Marker | | | Inscription. This is the church of North Farnham Parish, built about 1737. In 1814, a skirmish was fought here between the raiders from Admiral Cockburn’s British fleet and Virginia militia; bullet holes are still visible in the walls. The church was used as a stable by Union soldiers, 1863–65. It was restored in 1872, damaged by fire in 1887 and restored again in 1924. Erected 1942 by Virginia Conservation Commission. (Marker Number J-77.) Location. 37° 53.16′ N, 76° 37.53′ W. Marker is in Farnham, Virginia, in Richmond County. Marker is at the intersection of North Farnham Church Road (County Route 692) and Cedar Grove Road (County Route 602) on North Farnham Church Road. Click for map. North Farnham Church Road is only 0.6 miles long and is the old alignment of State Route 3. It peels off and returns to Route 3 on the left when traveling east on Route 3.
