Example of southern 'dogtrot' log cabin of 1800's
Inscription. Autrey House - Built 1849 - Oldest restored dogtrot log house in Lincoln Parish. Built on 200 acres by Absalom Autrey and his wife Elizabeth Norris Autrey after they moved from Selma, Alabama in 1848. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, October 10, 1980.
 
Location. 32° 42.052′ N, 92° 40.523′ W. Marker is in Dubach, Louisiana, in Lincoln Parish. Marker is at the intersection of Louisiana Route 151 and Louisiana Route 152, on the right when traveling west on State Route 151. Click for map. Marker and cabin easily seen from road. Marker is at or near this postal address: 8296 LA 151, Dubach LA 71235, United States of America.
 
Regarding Autrey House. Cabin is remarkably well preserved.
