| | | 1. Army of Tennessee Marker | | | Inscription. Withdrawing to this area after the Battle of Murfreesboro, Ben. Braxton Bragg established his command post near here. Other units went into defensive winter quarters at Bell Buckle, Shelbyville & Wartrace. Here they remained until late June, 1863, when maneuvers by Rosecrans, commanding the Army of the Cumberland forced withdrawal southward. Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission.
