Inscription.
The 438th Troop Carrier Group in WWII
led the airborne operations into Normandy,
dropping elements of the 101st Airborne
Division at 0048 hrs, 6 June 1944.

Engaged also in the airborne operations
in southern France; Eindhoven, Holland;
Bastogne, Belgium; and Wesel, Germany.

This tree is a living memorial to our
comrades, living and dead, who served so
honorably in these operations in the air
and on the ground.
