Laura was one of the founding members of the Jerome Historical Society and served as the Secretary/Treasurer from 1953-1974. She was active in the American Legion, Secretary of Eastern Star for 32 years and Secretary-Treasurer for the Haven Methodist Church. Laura died on May 20, 1982 at the age of 76. Laura's mother Mrs. Melena Metzler, was the manager of the Mountain View House, a hotel in the early days of Jerome. This site, next to the historic Boyd Hotel, housed a two-story frame building in the late 1800's and early 1900's.
