| | | 1. Christ Episcopal Church Accokeek Marker | | | Inscription. Erected in 1745 when it was declared by the General Assembly of Maryland to be the "lower chapel of ease" for King George's (Piscatoway) Parish, Christ Church was the outgrowth of a chapel established about 1698 by private contributions. In 1823 it received recognition as a "separate" congregation and in 1869 became the parish church of St. John's Parish. In 1856 this structure was destroyed by fire, but was rebuilt in 1857. Erected 1978 by Prince George's County Historical Society. Location. 38° 40.557′ N, 77° 1.257′ W. Marker is in Accokeek, Maryland, in Prince George's County.
