81st Ohio Infantry,
McArthur's (2d) Brigade,
W.H.L. Wallace's (2d) Division.
This regiment formed the left of McClernand's line of battle Monday April 7, 1862 and came into position here at 9 a.m. It advanced to the south-east corner of Jones Field.
 
Erected by Shiloh National Military Park Commission. (Marker Number 85.)
 
Location. 35° 8.637′ N, 88° 20.231′ W. Marker is in Shiloh, Tennessee, in Hardin County. Marker can be reached from Cavalry Road ¼ mile west of Hamburg-Savannah Road, on the left when traveling west. Click for map. 200 yards south of Cavalry road on a trail starting at the 15th Illinois monument, in Shiloh National Military Park. Marker is in this post office area: Shiloh TN 38376, United States of America.
