1. Fort Franklin Marker
Inscription. Site just west of here. Built in 1787 by United States troops under Captain Heart. First American fort in the region and base for protecting northwestern Pennsylvania's early settlements.
 
Erected 1947 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 41° 24.038′ N, 79° 49.87′ W. Marker is in Franklin, Pennsylvania, in Venango County. Marker is at the intersection of 13th Street (U.S. 322) and Franklin Avenue, on the right when traveling south on 13th Street. Click for map.
