1. Williamsport Marker
Inscription. Laid out 1795 by Michael Ross. Incorporated as a borough 1806; as a city 1866. At one time a leading lumber center of the nation. Trade and travel center for over a century.
 
Erected 1947 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 41° 13.684′ N, 76° 59.032′ W. Marker is near Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in Lycoming County. Marker is at the intersection of Montgomery Pike (U.S. 15) and Fairmont Avenue, on the right when traveling west on Montgomery Pike. Click for map.
