1. Site of Parade Ground Marker
Inscription. During Federal military occupation of South Carolina 1865-1877, this square was part of the parade ground used by United States troops. The barracks were located on this and adjacent squares.
 
Erected 1938 by The Columbia Sesquicentennial Commission of 1936. (Marker Number 40-2.)
 
Location. 33° 59.788′ N, 81° 1.713′ W. Marker is in Columbia, South Carolina, in Richland County. Marker is on Greene Street, on the right when traveling east. Click for map.
