1. Lawrence D. Bell Marker
Inscription. Born in Mentone, Lawrence D. Bell (1894-1956) became one of America's foremost aviation pioneers. He founded Bell Aircraft Corporation in Buffalo, New York, 1935. Advanced aircraft manufactured included Bell helicopters, America's first jet, and Bell X-1, first plane to fly faster than speed of sound.
 
Erected 1995 by Indiana Historical Bureau and Bell Aircraft Museum. (Marker Number 43.1995.1.)

Location. 41° 10.4′ N, 86° 2.55′ W. Marker is in Mentone, Indiana, in Kosciusko County. Marker is at the intersection of State Road 25 and Oak Street, on the left when traveling west on State Road 25. Click for map. SR 25 is also Main Street in Mentone. Approximate street address of marker is 509 W. Main Street. Marker is located about 50 feet west of the intersection of SR25/Main St. & Oak St. and is clearly visible from the intersection. Marker is in this post office area: Mentone IN 46539, United States of America.
