1. Thomas B. Read Marker
Inscription. The painter and poet was born Mar. 12, 1822, a mile away. Author of well-known “Sheridans Ride.” Spent mature years in Europe, but died in New York City, May 11, 1872, and is buried in Philadelphia.
 
Erected 1947 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 40° 1.567′ N, 75° 44.998′ W. Marker is near Downingtown, Pennsylvania, in Chester County. Marker is at the intersection of Route 322 and Horseshoe Pike & Corner Ketch Lyndell Road (Route 322), on the right when traveling north on Route 322. Click for map.
