For a time there was feverish digging; $80,000 of Coker Creek gold was mined between 1831 and 1854. Since then there has been sporadic mining here. Erected by Tennessee Historical Commission. (Marker Number 1F 18.) Location. 35° 15.528′ N, 84° 17.442′ W. Marker is in Tellico Plains, Tennessee, in Monroe County. Marker is at the intersection of Tennessee Route 68 and Hot Water Road, on the right when traveling north on State Route 68. Click for map.
