1. Bidamon Stable Marker
Inscription. Lewis Bidamon, second husband of Emma Smith, built this structure during the 1860s from the foundation stone of the Nauvoo House. Bidamon owned a carriage “manufactory.” He, and his brothers John and Christian had conducted a number of business transactions with Joseph Smith. After Smith's death, Lewis worked with other “New Citizens,” as non-Latter Day Saints who moved into Nauvoo during and after the exodus were called, to protect the remaining church members.

Lewis and Emma were married in December of 1847. He later served the community as justice of the peace and city magistrate. Lewis Bidamon died in 1891 and was buried near Emma in the family cemetery.
