1. Village Square Marker

Inscription. This Village Park is the site of the original settlement of Geneseo. When the pioneer settlers, James and William Wadsworth, came from Connecticut in 1790, the village which they founded was laid out with this plot as a typical New England "Village Square". bordered by homes, business places, etc.

Erected 1965 by Frederick W. Trotter Post 5005, V.F.W. & Auxiliary.

Location. 42° 47.659′ N, 77° 49.042′ W. Marker is in Geneseo, New York, in Livingston County. Marker is on Main Street (New York Route 39) 0.2 miles north of South Street (U.S. 20A), on the right when traveling south. Click for map.
