Location. 35° 0.634′ N, 85° 20.626′ W. Marker is in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, in Hamilton County. Marker is at the intersection of Point Park Road and East Brow Road on Point Park Road. Click for map. This historical marker is located at Point Park, on the northern crest of Lookout Mountain, in a portion of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. It is about 300 feet north of the walk through entrance to Point Park and situated just behind a Confederate battery that was positioned on the crest. More about this marker. According to the description information provided by the National Park Service, the monument is, “2'6" x 1'2" x 2'6" high rectangular slab of dark Quincy granite. Rock-faced sides; polished & inscribed front. 'Illinois' is in large raised letters on beveled top. Marks unit's position during the Battle of Lookout Mountain.”
