1. Celoron's Expedition Marker
Inscription. In 1749 a French force under Celoron de Blainville entered the Ohio valley by way of Chautauqua Lake and Conewango Creek. A lead plate was buried at the mouth of the Conewango claiming the area for France.
 
Erected 1947 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 41° 50.68′ N, 79° 8.965′ W. Marker is in Warren, Pennsylvania, in Warren County. Marker is at the intersection of Hickory Bridge and Pennsylvania Avenue (Business U.S. 6), on the right when traveling south on Hickory Bridge. Click for map.
