Inscription. First commercial enterprise in southeastern Chautauqua County Doctor Thomas Ruston Kennedy built first mill October 1805 after purchase of 3000 acres in the area which became the Town of Poland

Erected 2005 by (Chautauqua County?) Bicentennial.

Location. 42° 9.352′ N, 79° 6.107′ W. Marker is in Kennedy, New York, in Chautauqua County. Marker is on Frewsburg Road (U.S. 62) 0.2 miles south of Jamestown Road (New York Route 394).
