1. The Solitude Marker
 
Inscription.
Designed and built in 1784 as a riverside villa by John Penn, Jr., it served as a model for country houses of the Federal period (c. 1775 – 1830). Administered by the Philadelphia Zoo since 1874, the original Adam Style features, including elegant plaster ceilings, are preserved.

 
Erected 2009 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 39° 58.365′ N, 75° 11.739′ W. Marker is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia County. Marker can be reached from N 34th Street (U.S. 13), on the right when traveling south.
