1. The Third Battle of Winchester Marker
Inscription. You are standing on Hackwood Lane. Running east to west, it was part of a network of country lanes connecting the Berryville Pike and the Valley Pike in the mid-19th century. The trees on either side were not present during the battle.

Location. 39° 12.012′ N, 78° 7.764′ W. Marker is near Winchester, Virginia, in Frederick County. Marker can be reached from Redbud Road (Virginia Route 661) 0.9 miles south of Martinsburg Pike (U.S. 11), on the right when traveling south. Click for map. This small marker is reached from the Third Winchester Battlefield trail system starting at a parking area on Redbud Road. It is located along the Battle Trail in a strip of woods near the Hackwood House Wayside. Marker is in this post office area: Winchester VA 22603, United States of America.
