1. Amy Building Marker
Inscription. A.P. May, Coalinga area pioneer and indomitable personality in the building of the town. In 1903, Mr. May constructed five galvanized iron buildings at this site. A project, in which his associates tried to discourage him because they believed that the community at the time didnít warrant such expenditure. Four years later he tore down the galvanized buildings and built the two story, white brick “Amy Building.” to house among other things, a Bank, Pool Hall and Tobacco store. Downstairs, below street level, there was a rathskeller space with the beautiful tiled floor and itís own outside entrance. Upstairs were offices for professional men. The “Amy Building": was named after his daughter Miss Amy May.

Erected by Coalinga Lions Club.
