The Battle of the Bulge
was fought by the U.S. Army in the heavily forested Ardennes region of eastern Belgium and northern Luxembourg from December 19, 1944 through January 25, 1945. Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Great Britain, called it
"the greatest American battle of World War II"
Six hundred thousand American fought in bitter cold and snow; 81,000 of them were casualties; 19,000 of these died.
Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge
is an organization of those who endured and survived that great battle. The victory over Germany was a turning point in the war. Some of those survivors are members of
The Southern Arizona Chapter LIII
who offer this memorial.
