The present building was built towards the end of the 16th century. Residence of Jacob Schultheiss Balthasar (1658-1733).
The exterior wall painting dates from the late Renaissance, about 1656. The portal, the work of the city master craftsman Hans Georg Urban, dates from 1730.
The interior contains a remarkable staircase and stuccoed ballroom from
the late Regency Period, about 1740.
