1. Boiling Spring Marker
Inscription. Historic Boiling Spring, 250 yards northwest, was long an Indian camping place and later a watering spot on the Fort Snelling–Dakota Road built in the 1850's. The road turned here to pass the spring, then called Big Spring. Settlers renamed it for the steamy effect created in winter by the bubbling water.
