1. John Young Store Marker
Inscription. A general store, built in 1808 by John Young, after whom the village was named. Known as the Red Store.
 
Erected by Porter Historical Society.
 
Location. 43° 14.949′ N, 79° 3.052′ W. Marker is in Youngstown, New York, in Niagara County. Marker is on Water Street west of Main Street (New York State Route 18F), on the right when traveling south. Click for map. Water Street is one way. It descends from Main Street to river level and ascends back to Main Street. Refer to the pictures for The Site of El Dorado Hotel marker for the entrance to Water Street. Marker is in this post office area: Youngstown NY 14174, United States of America.

Beware of Canada Goose droppings. The low building has public restrooms and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection videophone for pleasureboats to report arriving from Canada. The far shore of the Niagara River is Canada. The larger building is the Youngstown Yacht Club.
