Inscription.

Fort Hamilton was completed Sept. 30, 1791, and occupied by the U. S. Army commanded by Gen. Arthur St. Clair. The supply base was the first in a chain of outposts north of Cincinnati (Fort Washington) in the Northwest Territory. The log structure also supplied the victorious army of Gen. Anthony Wayne, 1792-1795. Completion of the fort is considered Hamilton's founding date.
 
Erected 2007 by the City of Hamilton.
 
Location. 39° 24.088′ N, 84° 33.911′ W. Marker is in Hamilton, Ohio, in Butler County. Marker is on High Street (Ohio Route 129/177) west of Monument Street, on the left when traveling east. Click for map. Marker is on the High-Main Street Bridge over the Great Miami River. Marker is in this post office area: Hamilton OH 45011, United States of America.
